NABERS Energy tenancy ratings are part of a suite of industry-recognised tools designed to help tenants across Australia benchmark their sustainability performance.
The application of National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) Energy ratings is a pillar of the CitySwitch program. It is used as a national benchmark, enabling signatories to measure their energy efficiency progress over time and to compare themselves against others in the sector. Watch the explainer video below or visit the NABERS website to learn about the other rating tools available.
NABERS Energy rates the energy efficiency of buildings and tenancies from 1 to 6 stars based on energy consumption per square metre (normalised for location and emissions intensity), where 6 stars represents an exceptionally high level of energy efficiency. With the average tenancy performing at 2½ stars, a 4 star commitment means the tenant is at least 20 per cent more efficient than the general commercial tenant market.
The NSW Office of Environment & Heritage have been recognised for the quality and robustness of their tools and CitySwitch is proud to partner with them to provide certainty and consistency of evaluation for all Signatories.
