Interested in setting up a worm farm at your office? Come along to hear from Brett Hedger, Greenhouse Programs Officer at the City of Port Phillip, talk about how he and the Council’s Green Team set up a comprehensive waste system at St Kilda Town Hall.
The worm farm, which is located in the carpark, consists of 14 Hungry Bins and is trialling a mega worm farm developed by Worm Lovers. Since October 2014, the system has processed over 4.3 tonnes of organic waste, which includes 4 tonnes from council staff; over 300kg from the childcare facility next door and 80kg from a local coffee shop.
City of Port Phillip worm farm has also become a research site as part of an Australian study into composting. The Australian Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Low Carbon Living study is being undertaken by Swinburne University of Technology and the University of South Australia.
