Wednesday 17 February
5pm - 7pm
The Glasshouse - Point Advisory
Level 17, 31 Queen Street, Melbourne, VIC
Free and interactive discussion on the emerging topic of setting science-based emissions targets for businesses.
Historically, many organisations have set short-term emissions reduction targets through opaque and inconsistent processes. But the pressure is mounting for businesses to be able to demonstrate how their targets were set, and how they are a fair contribution to the global 1.5 degree aspiration agreed to at COP21 in Paris.
The world is moving towards a common framework for setting science-based targets, being championed by the WWF and CDP (click here to visit the website). By aligning with this framework and setting emissions reduction targets based on science, businesses can align their carbon mitigation efforts to the UNFCCC outcomes. This makes science-based targets the most robust, defensible approach to determining corporate carbon mitigation aspirations.
This event is an opportunity to hear from carbon experts from WWF and Point Advisory on the emerging frameworks for setting science-based targets, and to get the corporate perspective on target setting from NAB.
While this event is targeted at larger corporates, the learnings will also be valuable for SMEs, NGOs and government.
