Earlier this month NABERS announced the launch of their comprehensive new guide to help tenants take control of office energy use.
Launched on behalf of the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, the NABERS Energy Management Guide for Tenants is a comprehensive handbook detailing the key steps involved in starting the energy efficiency journey. The Guide provides practical advice for tenants – whether they be large, small, within a new fitout or established office – as well as recommendations on where to go for professional advice and assistance. The guide provides an understanding of energy use, explores the key opportunities for cost savings and the business case to support implementation and assists tenants in office buildings to manage their energy use efficiently while maintaining optimal lighting, heating, cooling and power levels to support business’s operations.
Office tenants control around 50 per cent of the energy used in their buildings, presenting both a challenge and an opportunity. While energy costs can be significant, so are the opportunities to make simple changes that can achieve great savings.
This Guide complements the recently released Energy Efficient Lighting Technology Report which is designed to help businesses choose the right lighting upgrade through outlining the technical specifications and business case for various lighting options. It is a helpful tool for tenants managing their energy bill, given powering lights on average accounts for 15 to 25 per cent of business electricity bills.
The Guide is now available to download for free from the NABERS website or speak to your local CitySwitch Program Manager to request a hard copy.
